The short version
Rise to 5K stores everything on your device and sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server that holds your data.
What the app stores, and where
Your runs, program progress, and settings are saved in your device's local app storage (browser localStorage, or the equivalent inside the installed app). This data never leaves your device unless you export it yourself.
What we collect
Nothing. The app makes no network requests carrying your data. The only network use is downloading the app itself and its updates from our hosting provider, which involves the ordinary technical logs any web host keeps (such as IP address and request time); we do not use these to identify or profile you. The two optional exceptions are route map imagery and the weather at the start of a run — see “Distance tracking and maps” and “Weather” below.
Distance tracking and maps
Distance tracking is on by default and can be turned off at any time — the "Track distance" switch sits on the screen before every run, and in Settings. While it is on, the app uses your phone's GPS to measure a run's distance, pace and route. Your phone will ask your permission the first time a run actually starts; declining turns the setting off. All of it is processed and stored on your device only — routes are never uploaded, and deleting a run deletes its route.
Route maps display imagery from OpenFreeMap. Loading a map sends your IP address and the requested map area to OpenFreeMap's servers, like visiting any website; your route itself is never sent. Maps only ever load for runs you tracked with GPS.
Weather
With "Record the weather" on (it is on to start with, and only applies while distance tracking is on), the app asks Open-Meteo for the conditions at the start of each run — temperature, "feels like", humidity and sky. That request carries your location rounded to about a kilometre and your IP address, like visiting any website; nothing else, and nothing that identifies you. The answer is stored with the run on your device only. Turn it off in Settings at any time. Weather data by Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0).
Backups
The backup feature creates a file on your device, under your control. Where you send or store that file (your notes, email, cloud drive) is your choice and governed by those services' policies, not ours.
Deleting your data
Use Settings → Start from scratch inside the app, or simply uninstall it / clear the site's data. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to delete on any server.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here and the effective date above changed.
